INFORMATIVE DRUG AWARENESS TALKS
We have found that the easiest way to share information with the youth, is to create an event at a local community hall, church or school, where we host a fun activity and during this event, we talk to the children about drugs and the negative effectas of drug abuse. These talks normally start very quiet and eveybody listens with lots of interest. Then, suddenly one of the children in the audience will share their experience of having a family member or friend who use drugs and what they did as a result of the drug use. From there on, many have something to add or to share, and that is when others are being informed of the different effects that this evil can cause.
It happens on a daily basis that someone who is a known drug addict, actually comes free of drug abuse, but that the local people do not want to accept him/her "back" into their community. They might still see the individual as a criminal or a threat to their families. We are hosting sessions where people who are and were in similar positions, share their experiences and success with others with the hope that they will also be successfull. There is nothing more convincing and powerfull as hearing someone who is or were in the same situation, telling to you what he or she experienced and what they did to overcome it. Making a difference together.......
Many families and individuals are not in a financial position to purchase a drug test in order to proof to their loved ones and maybe even the people in the area where they live, that they are either not using drugs or not using drugs anymore. For a previous drug addict, being in a situation like this, can cause so much pressure that they sometimes fall back into their old lifestyle due to the fact that they are not accepted and cannot afford to undergo drug testing as proof. Therefor we are aiming at providing free drug testing, but are in need of donations to either purchase our own testing kits or pay for testing for these individuals or receive self testing kits.
Part of our mission is to focus on positive community upliftment initiatives. We have selected a few strategc necessaties that we would like to assist the community to have access to. Except for basic needs such as food and water, hygiene plays a huge part in the daily prevention of illness and is a major cause / contributor to students staying out of class, due to health problems, commonly caused by a lack of hygiene. We have access to a very special hand sanitizer that provides a barrier for 4hours, once rubbed onto the hands and protects agains superbugs like MRSA, C-DIFF, E-COLI and the H1N1 virus. Something that if used, can prevent many health problems caused by virusses and other bugs.
